Fundamental Critical Care Support Review

I am an ICU nurse (SICU and MICU) who took this course at my hospital with this as the accompanying book. The book has A LOT of information in it. As a nurse, if you have your CCRN this will be a nice review plus it adds a few extra explanations to topics such as antimicrobials that seem to be minimized in nursing texts. Word of warning though - this book does NOT give you all the answers you need to pass the FCCS post-test. Some of the items from the exam aren't even mentioned in the book, so pay attention to the instructor!

To anyone taking the FCCS course, I strongly advise that you do at least a light read-through of the book prior to class. It will help immensely when the material is covered in lecture as the powerpoint slides that accompany the course are truly adjuncts to the material presented in the book. I could've sold my book following the course but I chose to keep it as a reference because the information is a little more medically based than traditional nursing texts.
