This is an exceptional text and exactly as the title implies, "for the first responder." It is obvious the author has experience as a first responder as his guide is written so any first responder, either rookie or seasoned veteran, can use it to impove their evidence collection skills. Mr. Lemay has taken the time to explain the importance of the evidence to be collected and how to properly document, photograph and collect it. He also discusses the necessity of collecting certain evidence as well as presenting evidence in court. As an added bonus he has included case studies documenting the need for proper evidence collecton. This text is well written in a manner so that any officer can use it to make sure evidence isn't missed or inadvertently destroyed.Make no mistake, this is not an encyclopedic, all encompassing text on every miniscule detail a dedicated criminalist or laboratory technician will need to process all types of evidence. It is, however, "A Concise Guide" for the "First Responder". As as a twenty plus year veteran law enforcement "first responder" I highly recommend this text to all my collegues.
